Using a mobile with browser and camera, the developed system allows access to AR content hosted on web pages.
8th Wall has announced the launch of 8th Wall, a solution to offer ARKit and ARCore style augmented reality in mobile web browsers. This way, users who have a mobile with a browser and camera will be able to access the compatible experiences offered by any website. 8th Wall Web uses JavaScript and WebGL to implement the company’s simultaneous mapping and location (SLAM) engine, adding optimization to deliver real-time AR in mobile browsers.

- Absolute positioning (6dof): Allows to interact with the space and the positioned elements using only the camera of the phone (without markers).
- Surface detection: Allows the detection of the floor and other flat surfaces (such as tables) for the precise placement of virtual objects.
- Real-world points: Physical points that can be detected and used for viewing an AR experience.
- Hit Tests: Allows interaction with points and surfaces detected in a scene.
- Lighting estimation: Adjusting the lighting of the AR scene based on the user’s real world.
