Richard Marks leaves Sony to join Google’s advanced technology and projects (ATAP) group.

It seems that Google is doing something new in the world of video games, the internet giant has hired Richard Marks, a former research engineer who helped create the PlayStation VR viewer and its PlayStation Move controllers.

Marks joined the Advanced Technology and Projects (ATAP) group at Google, which he commented through a spokesperson:

ATAP is at the intersection of science and application, where our goal is to solve important problems and bridge the gap between what could be and what is. We are very excited to have Richard join the senior team and look forward to your contributions.

Google is rumored to be working on a service codenamed ‘Yeti’, which could be a cloud-based gaming platform to rival PlayStation and Xbox. Marks had been with Sony since 1999, where he helped create the ” EyeToy “and the” PlayStation Eye ” camera, which premiered in 2003 on the PlayStation 2 game console.

He recently helped develop the “PlayStation VR”, which appeared in 2016 for”PlayStation 4″. In January 2018, Google hired Phil Harrison, Sony’s former head of game research and development, as vice president and general manager, along with other renowned video game personalities, including former PlayStation Home boss Jack Buser and Xbox Live Arcade Creator Greg Canessa.

Sony has not yet pronounced on the march of Marks to Google.
