FTP access from Windows

Here is a guide on how to access an FTP server from Windows, and not via an FTP program. Windows actually has an FTP program built in, which may well handle it. You actually have the option to add your FTP access, as a shortcut in Explorer (my Computer). Below is shown how to do step by step, so you can see what I mean.

1. Enter your “Explorer”, “This Computer” or “Computer“as it’s just called in Windows 7. Right click on “Computer“and press “Add a network location”.

2. Click “Next”.

3. Select item and press “Next”

4. Type the address of your FTP server and press “Next”

5. Here you need to type dir userName, press “Next”

6. Type what your shortcut should be called on your computer and press “Next”

7. Click “Execute”

8. Now it asks for username and password, fill it in and press “Sign in”

9. Now you can see what is on your FTP server in Explorer, that way you can easily move documents between your FTP server and your computer.
