Nvidia is showing a PC that is capable of powering 4 Vives at a time for multi-user experiences with the same computer. Design guide is available for your request.
Nvidia is showing in the GTC a team capable of offering the necessary power so that there can be 4 simultaneous users with HTC Vive, in order to offer a multi-user virtual reality in the same physical space and without the need to have one PC per user. The team in question uses four Nvidia Quadro P6000 graphics cards, where each has a cost close to€ 5,000, to give life to 4 virtual machines that are responsible for managing each unit of Vive. Finally, two Lighthouse base stations are used for positioning, shared by all users.
For Nvidia, multi-user systems open an infinite range of possibilities to apply virtual reality to all kinds of environments and places such as military, emergency, manufacturing, design, arcade and theme parks, among others. The configuration minimizes the space, power and cooling required, making a system easy to transport and quick to assemble. An advantage that can benefit the growing market of physical installations with virtual reality that is emerging in all types of premises.
Nvidia has created this system to find a way to offer multi-user virtual reality support from a single PC. However, they have begun to come up with more use cases such as including views for viewers in mixed reality. The equipment can be tested at the GTC, at Nvidia’s VR Village booth, and several design and training companies will showcase their applications with these equipment.
