As soon as functions in the app are updated or the procedure for collecting the data changes, developers have to adjust the information in the Data security section. If developers actually enter this data, Google checks “with the help of systems and processes that are constantly being improved,” it says on demand. Problems should be solved together with the developers and misrepresentations corrected.
With the launch, the company says it is responding to reactions from users and app developers. They demanded more information and context on how data is processed. Users should now be able to see the following: purpose of data collection, disclosure to third parties, protection of user data by the app developers, compliance with the guidelines for family-friendly content and compliance with globally applicable standards of security measures.
This should allow users to more transparently understand in the Google Play Store which data they have to disclose – and whether the app needs it at all.
