Shigeru Miyamoto, a video game designer and producer, has spoken about his concerns regarding virtual reality in a recent interview with TIME.

The designer Shigeru Miyamoto has been interviewed by TIME magazine about the arrival of Switch, the new Nintendo console, and has answered a specific question about virtual reality, where he was asked if his concerns regarding this technology had changed since the last time they spoke in 2014.

“In terms of being together online in virtual reality, I think a lot of the problems have been solved or are starting to be solved. This is something we are also investigating. But I worry when I see people playing in virtual reality, because for example if a father saw his son playing in virtual reality, it would probably make him worry,” Miyamoto replied. “Another problem and challenge that I think everyone is facing is how to create an experience that lasts long enough and is satisfactory for virtual reality.”

It is not the first time that Miyamoto talks about virtual reality, and on another occasion he indicated that the famous character Mario did not fit with this technology. Recently the president of Nintendo, Tatsumi Kimishima, indicated that if they solved the comfort problems when playing long hours in virtual reality, then they would support it on Switch, so there is a possibility that Nintendo at some point of the jump as it already happens with PlayStation.
