At Harmonix, creators of the first Guitar Hero and later of the popular Rock Band console saga, they affirm how excited they are about the possibilities of enjoying Rock Band in virtual reality.

In an interview with Gaming Insiders, Steve Janiak, CEO of Harmonix, states that the Rock Band experience could be “even more incredible in immersive” in virtual reality. When asked if they are contemplating adding support for virtual reality devices, Steve answers the following:

Harmonix prides itself on being at the forefront of new technologies. VR is an intriguing frontier and a great opportunity to fundamentally reinvent people’s connection to music. For Rock Band, the feeling of playing live music, of really being on stage with the lights and the audience and the system surrounding you… that’s precisely what we want to provide with Rock Band 4. It could be even more incredible and immersive in the context of VR, and we are very excited about the possibilities.

Rock Band 4 is scheduled for release later this year on Xbox One and PlayStation 4, but the release of Morpheus next year could be a fantastic excuse to add support to this title. It comes to mind that it could be an ideal game to enjoy virtual reality standing in a Valve-like room with Lighthouse… of course, it does not occur to us to throw ourselves from the stage on the audience in a moment of ecstasy after an ovation.
