A few days ago we told you about NewRetroArcade, a demo that allowed us, through our Rifts, to tour a totally eighties-style virtual arcade and play several arcade machines among other things. The downside is that the machines ran only Game Boy Color games and it was missing that it had support for MAME. Well, the wait is over. The new version supports MAME, among other news.
The main novelty is that we can now play all the arcade machines in the salon, and that they will run a MAME emulator, but the new features do not end there. In addition, it includes a virtual SNES where we can play Super Nintendo and also NES games, in addition the virtual Game Boy games now have sound, and adds a new mode in which we can play a single game in a lighter environment, perfect for less powerful equipment but without the charm of doing it in the atmosphere of the arcade.
The demo only works on 64-bit Windows versions and is compatible with an Xbox keyboard and gamepad or equivalent. In order for it to work, it is also necessary to install the Microsoft Visual Studio Redist 2013 package. In addition, for copyright reasons it does not include any game ROMs, although when running it for the first time it will try to download them from various sites. If it does not succeed, everyone will have to get the roms on their own and copy them to the NewRetroArcade/Content/Roms folder.
We can also replace the games that are configured by default by the ones we want, editing the file NewRetroArcade/Content/NewRetroArcade.xml and adding, logically, the roms to their corresponding folder.
