The drip of Kickstarter campaigns to create games for Oculus Rift continues, and Medusa’s Labyrinth aims to give us real fear thanks to Unreal Engine 4.0 and its setting in mythological Greece. According to its creators, the game mixes the horror of the Amnesia saga with the stealth and handling of the Thief arc, and the setting reminds us in a way of Dreadhalls.

The player must choose his path very carefully along the dark corridors of Temple Island, going through catacombs and amphitheaters to solve the mysteries that lurk inside the labyrinthine garden of the summit: the Hesperides. And if being chased by a minotaur along a gigantic maze is not enough for us, the game is full of architecture, art and myths of ancient Greece, an environment that has not been used in any major horror title to date. The use of virtual reality and the Oculus Rift allows, for example, that to know how many arrows we have left we have to look at our quiver and count them ourselves visually.

Medusa’s Labyrinth is a long-term project, as it is scheduled to enter pre-production between November this year and February 2015, and in principle it will be completed in March 2016. The economic objective is quite high, about 270,000 euros (the project is in Swedish kronor) and we can get a copy of the game from about € 12.
