Montabaur, Berlin United Internet its mobile subsidiary 1&1 expect to make more profit in 2022 than before. However, the background is not hopes for more sales. Here, expectations remain unchanged.

Rather, the stagnating network construction at subsidiary 1 & amp;1 leads to less capital expenditures, as the company announced on Friday evening. In terms of sales, United Internet continues to expect an increase to 5.85 billion euros in 2022.

Earnings before interest, taxes, depreciation and amortization (Ebitda) are now expected to climb to 1.27 billion euros. So far, United Internet had assumed 1.26 billion euros. Instead of an investment of 0.8 to 1.0 billion euros, United Internet expects only 0.7 billion euros. This is mainly the result of unexpected delays in the provision of antenna locations as a result of supply bottlenecks at an expansion partner of 1&1.

1&1 expects more profit

The subsidiary is also now expecting more profit in the current year due to lower investments. 1&1 continues to expect an increase in service sales to around EUR 3.2 billion (2021: EUR 3.1 billion), but an increased ebitda of around EUR 690 million (2021: EUR 671.9 million).

The sales forecast remains unchanged. In terms of customer growth, 1&1 expects 100,000 fewer new contracts than previously expected due to the stronger-than-expected impact of new legal regulations. These are now expected to reach 350,000 in 2022.

United Internet includes, among others Gmx.de and Web.de as well as the web hosting provider Ionos, which is striving for the stock exchange, in which the financial investor Warburg Pincus holds about a quarter.
