Elon Musk is not the most serious person in the world, because he usually makes jokes and jokes that some people like and others really dislike. And now, it seems that his new goal is a confrontation with the owner of Wikipedia, which could end in a millionaire payment.

Why does Elon Musk want to give money to Wikipedia?

Jimmy Wales, co-founder of Wikipedia, complained a few days ago, expressing that Elon Musk has been gradually eliminating all the features of X (formerly Twitter) that even allow differentiating real journalists from fake ones.

Of course, Elon Musk couldn’t keep quiet, so he responded with a simple “please fix Wokipedia.” Wokipedia is a pun between the name of the encyclopedia and “woke”, a pejorative descriptive used to describe a progressive current of thought.

The thing did not end there, because a few days later the tycoon asked openly why the Wikimedia Foundation (the foundation that manages Wikipedia and surrounding projects) always asks for donations. According to him, it is not for operating the encyclopedia, since its entire information fits on your phone. So, in a rhetorical way, he hinted that there might be ulterior motives.

Continuing with his crusade, Musk threw the sword: he offered a billion dollars… Wikipedia changed its name to “Dickipedia”. Again, this is a pun, this time combining the name with the word “dick”, which means penis or idiot in English.

Hours later, Musk himself reiterated his “offer”, explaining that it still stands, when a user suggested that the organization should accept the money instead of constantly asking for donations.

Although it took a few days, Wikipedia slapped Musk with a white glove. He reminded the tycoon that the encyclopedia is the only site, out of the 10 most visited in the world, that is managed by a non-profit organization. In addition, its basis of operation is not advertising, it does not charge a subscription and does not sell user data. These are all activities that Elon Musk has strongly pushed for since he acquired Twitter and renamed it X.

So far, Elon Musk has not responded to the incisive comment, although he surely will.
