Air Link is a wireless version of the Oculus Link and a part of the latest update 28.0 Quest. It starts as an experimental feature and requires an upgrade to version 28 as Oculus Quest and Oculus app for PC. Because both updates will be released over the following several days, the players Quest will have to be patient.

Requirements for Air Link

As Virtual Desktop, Oculus recommends using a network of 5 GHz and router IEEE 802.11 ac, or IEEE 802.11 ax, which is connected to PC via Ethernet cable and is located at a distance of not more than six meters from the Oculus Quest 2. The computer also needs to meet the requirements for Oculus Link. Tips for setting up can be found on the relevant page of the Oculus support.

According to Facebook, Oculus Link cable offers the advantages of greater stability, better image quality and the ability to charge VR glasses during the game. In upcoming releases Air Link will continue to improve, he also worked with less than optimal network configurations.

Oculus Link will soon be possible with a frequency of 120 Hz

The second important feature of the new update — support for 120 Hz for Oculus Quest 2. She also is still experimental and must be enabled in the settings under “Experimental features”. With 72 or 120 instead of 90 Hz you can only use apps that are optimized for developers. Yet applications that conform to this. System apps continue to run at a frequency of 90 Hz.

Facebook notes that the 120Hz mode can impact the battery life and the temperature of the VR glasses, as well as the visual quality of the system’s functions.

There’s good news for gamers PC VR: in a later update Oculus Link by default, can work with PC VR applications at a frequency of 120 Hz.

Infinite Office — now with a virtual Desk

Update 28.0 Infinite Office gets a new experimental features. Virtual office, announced last year, is intended to facilitate the work in virtual reality. In update 25.0 Facebook introduced support for mice and trackpads Bluetooth earlier this year. Now you can draw a virtual table and track the physical keyboard.
