Cupertino Nude photo recognition only works in Apple’s Messages chat app and must first be activated by parents. When young people receive a nude photo, it is first made unrecognizable and they are asked if they actually want to take a look at it. The options offered then include, among other things, contacting the parents and blocking the contact from which the photo came. Even when trying to send a nude photo, a warning message first appears.
Apple emphasizes that nudity in the photos is detected exclusively by software on the device, the end-to-end encryption of the content is preserved and the group does not get access to it. Also, Apple will not know about it if software identifies a nude photo on a device.
