Cupertino Apple wants to expand its strong position in the business of computer watches with a wider range of models. The Apple Watch Ultra, unveiled on Wednesday, is larger and more robust than previous versions. With it, Apple specifically targets extreme athletes and adventurers, who have so far been approached by specialists such as Garmin.
Thanks to a larger battery, the Watch Ultra should run for 36 hours without recharging – and up to 60 hours with the power saving settings activated. All versions of the watch are equipped with a cellular connection as standard.
An additional large button should also be easy to use with gloves, which helps, for example, divers. With a price of $ 799 in the US, the Ultra watch will be slightly more expensive than previous models.
The conventional new Apple Watch 8 gets two sensors that measure body temperature. New motion sensors can detect car accidents so that the watch can automatically alert emergency services. The watch detects, among other things, a frontal or side impact as well as a rollover. The watch also evaluates the ambient noise for this purpose.
Apple’s mobile chip watches will also support roaming for the first time. Previously, connectivity without a connected iPhone was limited to national borders. The cheaper Watch SE, which is often bought for children or older relatives, gets the same new chip as the Watch 8.
So Apple Watch Series 8 is a pretty minor update

Apple has been a leader in the computer watch business since the launch of the first Apple Watch in the spring of 2015. According to calculations by the analysis company Canalys, Apple sold 18 million watches in the first half of the year and thus had a market share of 52 percent.
