There are many things I like about Oculus Quest 2: higher resolution, improved refresh rates, mandatory Facebook syncing, so they can collect their soul data. Well, not that last part. Another thing that’s great about Quest and Quest 2 is the fact that you can play a lot of free and paid games beyond the Oculus Store. Secondary Mission, for example, is a desktop application that allows you to download various games on your Quest 2. And there are tons to choose from! There are Multiple oculus quest 2 free games available to download and play on a sidequest..
1. Pavlov: Hut
A simplified and optimized version of the excellent VR game Pavlov for PC, Pavlov: Hut condenses the legendary Counter-Strike formula into an excellent VR game. There are many ingenious little mechanics, such as holding assault rifles with both hands to stabilize the reticle, manually grabbing ammo from his vest, and pulling pins from grenades before throwing them.
It is a great simulator of terrorists against counterterrorists, with all the bombs, balaclavas and Berettas you could ask for.
2. Ancient dungeon
It is a strange oversight within virtual reality that there are very few roguelike or roguelite games. The genre fits perfectly as it is based on permanent death, meaning that the races in the game tend to be quite short but satisfying. And Ancient Dungeon understands that.
According to the roguelites, dungeons and item collections are randomly generated, so each time you enter the game, it will be a completely different and unique experience. There’s plenty of loot, good visual variety, and a voxel-based artistic style that’s more functional than eye-catching, ensuring the game runs smoothly.
3. Half-Life 1 VR (LambdaVR)
You can keep all your stylish first-person shooters designed for VR-being able to inhabit the familiar spaces of classic shooter games like Half-life is one of the best VR experiences you can have. And it comes in the form of LambdaVR.
You should have the original Half-life on your PC and transfer certain core files from that to your headphones, but once you’ve done that, you’ll be able to launch yourself completely into the world of Black Mesa. Weapons like the lever are completely dynamic, and you can get texture packs to make those graphics stand out.
4. Doom VR (QuestZDoom)
Another golden classic whose conversion to virtual reality really puts into perspective how timeless the classics are. QuestZDoom is actually a launcher for a virtual reality version of ZDoom, the legendary home port that hosts wonderful projects like Brutal Doom (which you can play through as well).
It’s amazing how good Doom feels in VR, and the basic quality of life things like the instant look make it playable for hours. Again, you’ll need core files for any Doom game you want to play. (You can also play Hexen and Heretic, but there are fewer modifications to make them look good.)
5. Virtual desktop virtual reality patch
Virtual Desktop is virtually an essential app for Quest owners, allowing you to stream your PC desktop to your headphones without having to connect it via a cable. You’ll need a very powerful 5 GHz Internet connection, but if you have one, you’ll have a fairly smooth wireless desktop experience.
And an essential part of Virtual Desktop is Virtual Reality Patch, which allows you to play virtual reality games for PC wirelessly on your Quest. We’re talking full SteamVR games like Half-Life: Alyx that stream wirelessly from your PC to your headphones! It also works great as it supports high resolutions and a 90Hz refresh rate. Again, you will really need a good Internet connection to get the most out of this patch.
