Can you 3D print stucco on the ceiling with a drone?
Drones are the new variety when it comes to Toys for adults. Within a short time, the remote-controlled, flying cameras have become almost all-man’s property. What used to be reserved for the military and consulting companies that use the so-called UAVs to drop bombs on hostile territory and make surveys for construction projects can now be used for more common purposes, such as the delivery of goods that Amazon is planning, as well as ordinary hobby flying.
However, there are a lot of rules about flying with drones, which are particularly strict in Denmark, as you are not allowed to fly over the public space for reasons of violation of privacy. But if you fly inside your own house, which many drones are really only intended for, then only your own rules apply. What might then be interesting to find out is whether you can use drones for something else indoors than just flying around with?
There is a camera on most drones for hobby use. These cameras often have some pretty good lenses and can film in good quality. Some models also have a screen on the remote control so you can follow live what is being filmed. This means that you can sit on the couch and fly around with the drone without flying into anything, as you can keep an eye on it on the screen.
Another thing that is now also widely used is 3D printing. It is possible to print everything in just the form you want, as long as it is all connected. The material that you typically 3D printer in is, among other things, plastic, Wax and plaster. It’s funny enough the same thing that stucco rosettes, stucco moldings are generally made of. If you imagine that you mounted a spray device on the drone and set the camera to film in the same direction, you would be able to print your own designs of stucco rosettes on the ceiling. It is probably not yet so practical to use the same method to print baseboards, wall moldings and ceiling moldings, as it is probably easier just to set them up yourself. But theoretically, it would be possible in the future to print the entire home in 3D printed stucco designs.
