The Cineveo virtual cinema has been introducing various improvements recently, especially with regard to future updates, now available to all users. One of the most requested changes was the inclusion of a scenario that simulates a real cinema, and this is what will come with the October update. But there are other interesting novelties.
The first of them is that every month there will be a new scenario, available for free to everyone. For now we have the space station, the ocean, the enchanted valley and the void. In October the virtual cinema will arrive and then there will be a new stage every month. In addition, version 0.8 currently available has improved support for MKV files in H.264 format and, combined with the LAV codecs, should not give the performance problems that were in previous versions. It has also improved the overall performance of the program and the absolute positioning, which now works also on the movie selection screen. Other novelties such as the possibility of resizing the screen size, the choice of whether we want it flat or curved and keys to modify our height complete a list of changes that makes it a must update for everyone.
These are the necessary steps for MKV in H.264 format to run without speed problems (as long as our CPU is powerful enough):
- Uninstall the possible codec packs that we have installed (K-Lite or similar)
- Installing the LAV filters
- Install Codec Tweaker
- Run Codec Tweaker, go to the “Preferred decoders” and change “H.264” from “Microsoft” to “LAV Video”
