Cisco Systems announced on Tuesday the acquisition of a manufacturer of optical components Acacia Communications.
The sum of transaction has made $2,84 billion for 70$ per share, which is a 45.7% more rate quotes to the closure of the stock exchange on 8 July.
For Cisco’s largest acquisition since the acquisition of the manufacturer for monitoring AppDynamics in 2017, which cost the company $ 3.7 billion.
The current transaction will be paid without the involvement of Cisco stock.
After the announcement of the purchase of shares of Acacia increased by about 40% to 67,30 USD while Cisco shares fell nearly 1% to 55.80 dollars.
Acacia Communications designs and manufactures high-speed optical interconnects, in particular digital signal processors with low power consumption and advanced chip and
optical modules for data transmission speeds of 40-400 GB/s. Its main customers are telecommunications providers and operators of data centers.
According to a press release from the company, this step will expand the portfolio of the optical systems to Cisco.
The closing of the transaction is expected in 2020.
