SFSCon 2021 as a virtual and on-site conference in South Tyrol Conference for Open Source and Free Software
At SFSCon 2021 in November, everything will again revolve around open source and free software. New skills, data protection and cyber security are among the core topics, as is sustainability.

After a virtual intermezzo, SFScon 2021 is to take place again as a face-to-face event in Bolzano.

After last year’s online edition, SFScon is to become a real meeting place for the free software and open source community again in 2021. The organizers therefore invite you to the conference at the NOI Techpark in Bolzano on Friday and Saturday, November 12 and 13, 2021.
On November 12 and 13, 2021, the current developments in the field of open source will be discussed for two days in Bolzano. With around 100 nationally and internationally renowned speakers, the conference is a Europe-wide fixed date on the topic of free software and attracts more visitors every year from Italy, but also from the entire German-speaking world. Visitors to SFScon have the opportunity to exchange best practices. The program revolves around a wide variety of topics: IoT &Cybersecurity, Community &Education, Sustainability, Public Administration &GIS, Law, Software Architects, Agrifood & Health or the open-source Software Community OW2.
This year’s edition will be opened by Davide Ricci, the person in charge of Huawei’s Open Source Technology Center. Ricci wants to give an insight into the current state of the development of OpenHarmony OS. With the entry of the Eclipse Foundation into the project, the NOI Techpark was also involved; in particular in connection with activities related to the challenges of compliance and data protection in the European context.
Based on the personal experiences of speakers and case studies from companies participating in the conference, the developments on the labor market are illustrated; the function of Open Source Program Manager is increasingly filled here. Sustainability will be another central topic; here, too, the NOI Techpark in Bolzano is directly involved.
Parallel to the conference, the now traditional NOI Hackathon SFScon Edition will take place: a digital two-day marathon in which developers, programmers and all interested parties can face challenges from companies and develop open source projects.
The SFScon goes back to an initiative of the Linux User Group Bozen-Bolzano-Bulsan. The event can be attended at NOI Techpark with the Green Pass, alternatively participation in SFSCon 2021 via streaming is an option.
