Although the funding rate of the Virtualizer Kickstarter campaign plummeted after the first few days, it has continued to progress slowly but steadily until today, with 26 days to go, it has achieved its initial goal. At the moment they have not announced any stretch goal but they have commented that the manufacture of the pieces has already begun, and they also offer us interesting shipping options, especially for those who live in the capital.
Cyberith has already received the first samples of pillars, rings and guides. They insist time and again on the advantages of manufacturing the Virtualizer entirely in Europe, due to the high quality of the finishes and instant communication with suppliers.
They have also shown us a photograph of a prototype ready to send to the SIGGRAPH conference in Vancouver, Canada, which starts this Sunday. And speaking of shipping, they tell us about several options to reduce the high shipping costs of a product of these characteristics. The first option they offer us is to go directly to pick it up in Austria with a cost of 0, which will not be profitable for most people, unless several people are associated and rent a van or something like that.
The other option is to make the shipment to the capitals or the most important cities of the different countries, and they give us for example the case of Spain and Madrid. Shipping to anywhere in Spain will be around € 120 approximately, however we could approach to pick it up in Madrid paying about € 45, an option undoubtedly very interesting for residents in the capital or for those who live nearby. These prices are a mere estimate, so we should not take them for granted. In any case, we are still relatively far from the date of manufacture, so there is a lot of time to make our cabals.
We remind you that we will have the opportunity to test the Virtualizer next week at GamesCom, so you will have our detailed impressions very soon.
