The 23rd of July is the day chosen by Cyberith for the beginning of the Kickstarter campaign of Virtualizer, an alternative to the Virtuix Omni with a totally different system: we will be able to use it with simple socks instead of needing special shoes. It is also a cheaper option for Europeans in terms of taxes and shipping costs, since it is distributed from Europe.
This is the video of the third prototype, which looks more refined than the previous ones. Virtualizer allows us to walk, jump, bend down and sit more or less naturally. The drawback of the cables of the Oculus Rift (and the camera of the DK2) make them not ideal devices for the moment, a situation that will change when Oculus manufactures a wireless one and that does not depend on a camera for absolute positioning, however mobile-based alternatives such as vrEye, vrAse or the recently discovered Gear VR from Samsung can work very well with walkers.
