In Denmark, we are well versed in VISA / Dankort, Mastercard and online banking transfers, but online payment methods such as MobilePay, PayPal and Skrill are gaining ground in the market these years.

Unlike the former, these so-called e-wallets offer ’cash’payment online, which means you do not have to spread your bank account information and credit card information over the web. Thus, a way to minimize the risk of, for example, identity hijacking.

Here is a look at some of the most widespread in Denmark:

MOBILEPAY (mobile app) (UK)

Danske Bank’s payment service requires you to attach a credit card, and via the mobile app you can easily and quickly transfer and receive money. MobilePay is a purely mobile-based solution that requires payment via Danish mobile phones. A Danish bank account is not enough. The recipient must have a + 45 number, which limits the software as a global form of payment.

Primary use: Transfers between persons in Denmark. Payment in Danish stores.

Fees: No

My. Transfer: No

Max. Transfer: Max 5,000,-/day and 150,000, – / year

Security: Transfers cannot be canceled. As a rule, the bank is liable for any abuse.

SWIPP (mobile app) (UK)

The equivalent of MobilePay. Basically, Swipp works the same way, but unlike the competitor, Swipp is directly associated with your bank account. Therefore, does not require credit cards. In addition, it is possible to transfer up to 25,000, – per day, which is a big difference compared to MobilePay. However, Swipp only works with customers from banks that support Swipp. That is, Danske Bank customers are excluded.

Primary use: Transfers between persons in Denmark. Payment in Danish stores.

Fees: No.

My. Transfer: No lower limit.

Max. Transfer: Max 25.000, – / day. However, no more money than the account has available.

Security: Transfers cannot be canceled. As a rule, the bank is liable for any abuse.

PAYPAL (mobile app / online form of payment) (UK)

PayPal is typically used as a’ secure intermediary ‘ between you and the recipient/sender. They offer both an online account you can deposit and withdraw from, as well as linking your credit card. PayPal is widely used in most of the world, and therefore an effective form of payment by global e-commerce. Many also use it as an online salary account, to which services can be remunerated and then used for further e-commerce. In this way, the banks completely bypassed. For transfers, just fill in the email and password.

Primary use: Domestic and foreign e-commerce and transfers between persons.

Fees: None when buying in Danish web shops or when transferring to Danish accounts if it is from the PayPal account. When transferring by credit card-the solution is imposed on 3,4% + 2,60 NOK. For transfers abroad, 2.4-4% of the currency conversion fee is charged.

My. Transfer: No lower limit.

Max. Transfer: Automatic amount limit is set upon creation, but can be adjusted under your user profile.

Security: Transfers from PayPal account can be revoked by creating a so-called’ dispute ‘ where sender and recipients enter into dialogue. If agreement is not reached, PayPal is initiated into the case and makes a decision. For credit card transactions, the rules apply to the credit card provider. Private liability.

SKRILL (Mobile app/Online payment method) (UK)

An ‘online account’ with a focus on low rates on international money transfers, then it is one of the most popular e-wallets when it comes to online games about poker and Casino. Players typically get their winnings transferred to their Skrill account free of charge, as opposed to the bank account, where the game sites sometimes require fees. In addition, Skrill offers fee-free movement of money between different online game accounts. Skrill not yet widely used as online payment in Danish web shops, but widely used globally.

Primary use: Deposits and withdrawals in connection with online poker and Casino. Global e-commerce and transfers between persons.

Fees: No fees by e-commerce. Fee of 1% (max 10 Euro) for transfers between Skrill accounts and 2.95 Euro for transfer to bank account. See more here.

My. Transfer: No, as long as any fees can be covered.

Max. Transfer: Automatic amount limit is set upon creation, but can be adjusted under your user profile.

Security: Transfers can be stopped if the recipient has not approved the payment. Once transferred, fraud must be detected in order for the money to be reversed. Private liability.

One of the places where most users especially need to have control of the online deposit and withdrawal terms is on game sites that require payment or where money is played f.ex. In this regard, the casino portal has made an excellent guide to the online payment methods offered on most online gaming sites. You can read more in their guide here.
