We already have the release date for Elite Dangerous: December 16th. Beta 3 will end on the 22nd of this month, and at that precise moment what the developers have called “gamma” will start, a version very close to the final one considered as a pre-release that will help Frontier to make sure that everything is ready for the final launch. Prepare your ships, commanders!
Frontier also confirms that there will be a Mac version next year. The good news is that those Mac users who have a PC or who can also load Windows, will be able to start playing from now and continue the game on their Mac, since the data is saved in the cloud and we can change platforms whenever we feel like it.
Remember that those interested in the game are still in time to get hold of the Mercenary Edition, which contains the following extras that will not be available from the launch of the game:
- An Eagle ship parked in a secondary place within the game
- An exclusive pack of paintings for the ship
- A special ‘first day’ tattoo for the ship
- A digital gamer’s guide
- A digital concept art book
- And more digital items to be announced over the coming weeks
Beta participants will automatically receive this special edition of the game, as well as all those who pre-purchase it before launch.
