Among the highlights of this update are the recruitment of NPCs that can fly with us and jump into the fight if our ship has the possibility to host fighters on the inside, the transport of passengers, automatic delivery of our ships to different points of the universe, the possibility of storing modules of the ships and various graphical improvements, both in space stations as on the surface of the planets on which we can land. But there is much more, too much to summarize in a few lines (will the expected Thargoids finally appear?), so you can take a look at the huge changelog at this link. The improvements related to virtual reality are the same as we already commented when the beta was launched, so we take the opportunity to remember them:
- Performance optimizations for the system map
- Updated to Oculus LibOVR 1.4
- New graphic detail presets for virtual reality:
- VR Low (the same as there is currently)
- VR Medium (the oldest VR)
- VR High (medium setting with supersampling x1.25)
- VR Ultra (high setting with medium shadows medium terrain samples)
- Backgrounds are added to the text elements of the menus and options screens, making them easier to read in VR
- The mouse control interface is moved so that it is at the same level as the rest of the elements
- Adjust to see the tail kits on the Vulture and the Asp by the problem with the camera angle
- Adjust to see the spoiler and wing kits on the Asp by the problem with the camera angle
- Added texts that were missing from the hangar selection wall of the main menu
- Adjusted the size of the mouse cursor when using an HMD
- Memory optimizations for Oculus
- The VR tutorial is only shown if we have a virtual reality device
