Friday, 26 March, EMC and Cisco announced the expansion of strategic cooperation “to help customers use with minimal cost full potential of the latest
information infrastructures together with a new generation of virtualized data centers”.
One of the reasons for the expansion of cooperation was the release of Cisco
“the unified environment of computation”, which is a “platform for the next generation data center, allowing you to consolidate storage resources, compute and network resources in a single associated
system optimized for virtualization.”
“EMC and Cisco believe that the corporate infrastructure will be developed according to the model of formation of private cloud infrastructures, and actively cooperate on the implementation of this scenario in
life,” said Executive Vice President of EMC global marketing and customer service quality, Frank Hauck.
EMC and Cisco for many years closely cooperated in the development of storage area networks. Between signed supply contract of the OEM, allowing EMC to sell multi-tiered Cisco switches
MDS and Cisco Nexus 5000 platform in the systems of networking EMC Connectrix. In this framework, EMC is the world’s first among developers of data storage systems
offered switches are FCoE (Fibre Channel over Ethernet) based on the Cisco Nexus 5000 platform.
