Last year Google launched a virtual tour of Petra for Street View with more than 30 historical places in Jordan, and now it makes it more immersive with a 360º web experience for Cardboard.
Many will remember that facade from movies like Indiana Jones and the Last Crusade, and it is that this building called the Treasury is one of the most famous places in Petra that we can visit with this new Cardboard experience. Aerial images have been used, and the stitching of millions of photos has been carried out to create the 360º mapping of six of the most beautiful places in Petra. The experience includes audio narration, interactive hotspots and sound effects to follow in the footsteps of the ancient Nabataeans who transformed these deserts more than 2000 years ago.
We will visit the carved theater of Petra and the hidden tombs until we reach the Monastery that will leave us speechless with its door of more than 8 meters high. Petra is part of the UNESCO world heritage and, now, we can explore it from home thanks to this experience that runs through our browser and without installing anything. To do this, we just have to open the following link.
