It seems that Oculus Rift could become one more alternative to IMAX cinemas or 3D glasses, since Facebook has started negotiating with the big Hollywood studios. We have seen that experiences have been created for Oculus Rift based on Game of Thrones, Sleephy Hollow, Pacific Rim or In the Eye of the Storm, and it seems that many more could be coming.
What Facebook intends, as we read on CNBC, is for film studios to create specific content for virtual reality that serves as a complement to movies, such as the experiences we have mentioned above. With the proviso that, instead of being available in specific exhibitions, they are available to everyone, or at least that is what we hope. Although the final goal could be the preparation of cinema specifically intended for the Oculus Rift, that is, immersive cinema.
At the moment the negotiations would be at their initial point, and these large studios are used to signing multimillion-dollar agreements, so Facebook will have to present virtual reality as something very appetizing for the near future. Thanks to our partner predator036 for the link.
