Firewall Info and help
Here you can find information and good advice on firewall, as well as in-depth explanation about why it is so important with firewall installed. A firewall helps you to secure your computer against intrusion by hackers, so that it cannot be used for a malicious action. A firewall is actually the same as a door, only those that have keys can get in through (roughly explained). But it still works a bit in the same way as with keys. Here everything runs via ports and protocols, instead of keys you block ports and protocols. Of course, you may not always know yourself safe, and even if you have done a lot to secure your computer, unfortunately everything can still happen.
Firewall types
There are 2 kinds of firewalls, one is a hardware firewall and the other a software firewall. The difference between them is, the software firewall is a program that is installed on your computer, and the hardware firewall is a box that sits on your home network, and is usually built into a router. By default in most Windows systems, there is a built-in firewall to block incoming requests. If you are in doubt if you have turned it on, it can be checked here is my Windows firewall enabled. But it does not help against outgoing traffic, here you need to have a software firewall going. Here you have the opportunity to determine / block all outgoing traffic, and in this way secure your computer even more. A hardware firewall typically sits with your router (built-in), blocking traffic that you do not want to enter your Network. This way, you make sure that your computer can not receive anything on the ports that are blocked in your firewall. By default, in most firewall, the ports you use normally are opened. Your security with firewall
Unfortunately, even if you have a firewall, you cannot be sure. If a hacker wants in and is good, he’ll come. Most computers that get hacked are the ones that are not safe, that is, do not have a virus program or other kind of firewall than the One Windows has built in. So the more you do, the less chance of getting hacked and getting viruses, etc. Windows firewall is good to have enabled, but always install another one too.
Free firewall programs
There are many firewall programs available, some cost money and others are free. I only have experience with the free programs, and they work perfectly for private use.
