The autonomous viewer, which was shown at the IFA 2018, incorporates two 1080p resolution microdisplays.
A new multimedia viewer of GOOVIS it will be available later this month in Europe. It’s the same G2 that the Chinese company put at the beginning of the year in crowdfunding with the name of Cinego, and that recently began to send its first models after successfully getting its financing through IndieGoGo.
This new 3dof viewer (no absolute positioning), which is self-employed and that’s designed to watch multimedia content, it has an Android operating system capable of running applications such as Youtube or Netflix, which we can install on its 32 GB of storage. The device has a WiFi connection and can be connected via HDMI to other video sources such as a PS4 or Nintendo Switch.
Goovis G2 mounts two microdisplays with AMOLED technology and a resolution of 1920×1080 (the same as Varjo’s main screens) at 60Hz, and offers a FOV of 53º and a density of 42 pixels per grade, which surpasses that of current virtual reality-specific viewers.
To enjoy the device longer and more comfortably, GOOVIS has installed the battery in the controller, leaving the total weight of the helmet in a light 200 grams and achieving an autonomy of up to 4 hours. The viewfinder also offers hardware adjustment of IPD and focal length, allowing viewing ranges of + 3 to -8 diopters for users who need prescription lenses. In turn, it includes other optional lenses for astigmatism.

Distribution at European level will be in charge of Reality Technologieswhich will launch the G2 later this month. They have not shared the price it will have in Europe, but in the United States it is available for 799 dollars.
