It seems that competition has come to Oculus Story Studio with the appearance of Jaunt Studios, which has industry veterans from Lucasfilm and Industrial Light & Magic.
Jaunt Studios, based in Los Angeles, is going to dedicate itself entirely to the creation of cinematic experiences for virtual reality. At the helm of the new company is Cliff Plumer, formerly CEO and CTO of Lucasfilm and Industrial Light & Magic. He will also have other experts such as David Anderman, former COO of Lucasfilm, and Miles Perkins of ILM. With this move, Jaunt consolidates itself as one of the great producers of content for virtual reality. Jens Christensen, CEO of Jaunt, states that “We have spent the last two years building the technology necessary to create VR content, and the last piece of the puzzle is the content itself. The technology has reached a point where it already makes sense to apply it to accelerate the creation of content.”
Since its presentation a year ago, Jaunt has collaborated with world-class artists such as Paul McCartney, Jack White, REVOLT and Warner Brothers among others to create 3D and 360º experiences, and they have not wanted to miss this opportunity to grow thanks to the new additions. Being in Los Angeles, they will have direct contact with some of the most relevant musicians, artists, filmmakers and writers on the world scene, so we can’t wait to see their new creations. Virtual reality continues to accelerate and opens up a huge range of opportunities for those who want and know how to take advantage of them.
