An image has just been leaked of what the Gear VR headset that Samsung is developing with the help of Oculus will look like, which will be presented on September 3 along with the Note 4, as we commented a couple of days ago. In the black and white photograph, a kind of Samsung gamepad is also observed.
The image comes from The Verge, which refers to the device as Project Moonlight, supposed internal name, although rumors point to that finally the commercial name will be Gear VR. On September 3, it will be presented in partnership at an event in New York and at the IFA fair in Berlin.
It is noted that the viewfinder has a detachable front to fit the smartphone (which seems to be a Galaxy and not a Note, at least in the image), and we observe a wheel at the top that we assume will serve to adjust the distance between the lenses, a functionality that we have been asking Oculus since the DK1. The lenses give the feeling of being smaller than those of the Oculus Rift DK2, they remind us of the size of the DK1, although it is difficult to appreciate. Otherwise it does not seem like a very striking product, so it should not be ruled out that it is a prototype, although being a black and white image nothing can be said either.
