The arrival of the Harmonix game represents the beginning of object positioning at a commercial level, coupling in this case a Touch controller to an Xbox One, PS3 or PS4 guitar.

Rock Band VR it has already arrived on the Oculus store, a year and three months after Palmer Luckey unveiled it at the 2015 Game Awards. The title of Harmonix it has 60 themes, a campaign with history, leaderboards and the possibility of using a real object within the virtual world, as is the case of the Rock Band guitar, which represents the first object with commercial virtual reality tracking. Rock Band VR covers different genres such as 80s pop, Seattle grunge, arena rock and more, and includes songs such as Testify by Rage Against The Machine, Everlong by Foo Fighters and Gold On The Ceiling by The Black Keys, among others. In addition, they will be releasing downloadable content, the first DLC being a compilation of Aerosmith hits.

In Rock Band VR, creativity and timing will be key as we combine chords to create perfect guitar solos. “Unlike traditional Rock Band, it recreates the intense and detailed experience of actually being on stage in front of a crowd of screaming fans. You feel like you’re playing live, answering the guitar to everything we do,” commented Greg LoPiccolo, creative director of Harmonix. The game features positional sound to aid in immersion.

Rock Band VR requires a guitar that is compatible with Rock Band 4, these being the options:

  • PlayStation® 3 Fender® Stratocaster®
  • PlayStation 4 Fender Stratocaster
  • PlayStation 4 Fender Jaguar®
  • Xbox One Fender Stratocaster
  • Xbox One Fender Jaguar

In addition to the guitar, it is also necessary to have Touch with the accessory that comes as standard to attach the motion controller to the guitar. So if we have the three things: Touch, Rock Band 4 compatible guitar and the Touch docking accessory, then we just have to purchase the game that has a price of € 49.99. On Amazon we can find a guitar pack with the game that costs $ 69.99, and in case we have lost our accessory that came with the purchase of Touch, they recommend us to contact Oculus support.
