This is what the Magic Leap Ambassador for Japan, Sadao Tokuyama, has collected in the Medium blog. Little do we know about this new viewer, called provisionally Magic Leap 2, because no video, photograph or prototype has been shown to the public, but on that website they collect that Peggy Johnson said that it would be 50% smaller than the current model, 20% lighter, that its FOV would be 100% higher and that it will arrive at the end of 2021.
The current viewer Magic Leap it has a weight of 316 grams and 40º of horizontal FOV, so its second generation would stay at a weight of 250 grams and could provide a field of view of about 80 degrees horizontal. Nothing is known about its resolution or its refresh rate, being 1.3 M pixels per eye and 120Hz the figures of the first model. Magic Leap 2 it would also have 5G connectivity, so with its new features it would surpass other AR devices such as the HoloLens 2 of Microsoft .
