The Japanese Masahiro Sakurai is one of the most prolific video game developers in history, as he has been creating title after title non-stop since the 90s. To the good Sakurai we owe the existence of Kirby and Super Smash Bros., because in addition to creating the franchises, he also directed several of their deliveries. And today, this genius is going to share a little of his wisdom with us, because he has just opened a YouTube channel.
I’ve decided to start a new YouTube channel called “Masahiro Sakurai on Creating Games.”
It launches…right now!
Subscribe today and you can brag (?) about being one of the very first to join me on this new endeavor. I’ll share more details soon!

Via Twitter, the creative confirmed the launch of his YouTube channel “Masahiro Sakurai on Creating Games”. In it, Sakurai will seek to “help make the world’s games more fun” and also assured that anyone will be able to enjoy his content regardless of whether he is an expert in the subject or not.
Sakurai explained that people continually ask him to offer lectures at universities or video game conferences, or at least to write a book. And although he considers the idea to be a good one, he believed that a YouTube channel would allow him to reach more audiences, to offer new perspectives, entertain those interested, and who knows? maybe even inspire a potential developer.
Sakurai’s channel already has 3 videos: one explaining what the channel will be about, another explaining the creative’s trajectory, and the last one already explaining the first development tip: “Stop the action at the important moments”. Check it out below:
Less than a day after its creation, Sakurai’s channel already has 169,000 followers, almost 370,000 views and thousands of Likes and comments. This creative has had a prolific career as a video game developer and designer and it seems that his career as a YouTuber will go the same way.
