Unlike the Go LCD, the new viewer will bet on the same display technology as Rift with pentile matrix.
Oculus Quest bet on two screens OLED with pentile matrix 1440×1600 resolution, always operating at 72 Hz as confirmed by RoadToVR. Therefore, the Quest screens are similar to those mounted by Vive Focus, or in the desktop field, which include Vive Pro (they comment that they could be the same for their similar quality of experience) and Samsung Odyssey. This is the same technology that we find also present in Rift, so we can expect some of the features already known, such as better colors with deeper blacks.
One of the novelties that Quest introduces, and that will also be available for Go, is the hardware correction (no apparent cost) of chromatic aberration (errors in the overlap of RGB colors) present on the periphery of the lenses. The go prescription lens accessories will be compatible with Quest, since this new autonomous HMD features the same lenses and hooks. As for the weight of the device, Quest weighs 100 grams more than Riftthat is, it should be around 570 grams.
Regarding controllers, Quest Touch will also offer capacitive response, something that is not functional in the OC5 demos. This means that applications, just like on PC, will be able to know if we have at rest the finger or not on the button face to perform certain gestures.

Oculus may offer more versions of Quest, as according to RoadToVR, the company would be “considering additional options”, so we might get to see another model with more capacity. Facing the autonomy, comment that Oculus aims to offer a value similar to Go, which would be 2 hours of play.
As for the positioning, which they talk about could become the best inside-out they have tried to date, the viewfinder has a white LED that will notify us when Oculus Insight is working. They are still defining how the Guardian system configuration will work. Of course, the necessary lighting indicates that it will be the same as to read a book, so we understand that it will be something similar to Windows MR viewers.
