One of the most interesting aspects of The Simpsons, outside the plot of each chapter, is the sofa intro. As you know, in each chapter, the whole family gathers in the armchair to watch TV during the initial song, but as time has passed these sketches have become more and more curious and elaborate. And now, it’s finally Google Chrome’s turn.
A few hours ago the 34° was released. season of The Simpsons, the premiere chapter of which was about a turtle who gets constitutional rights. However, the most curious of all was the sofa intro, which is a tribute/parody of the T-Rex from Google Chrome. As you know, the dinosaur appears when you try to surf on the web without internet access and turns into a small eternal sliding game with obstacles that measures your reaction ability. And now, so are the Simpsons:
As you see in the GIF above, the entire Simpson family goes 8-bit for a few seconds, jumps over a couple of obstacles and finally falls on the couch, ready to watch the chapter. Of course, the one who lost when crashing into a cactus could not be other than Homer, who even exclaims his classic “D’oh”.
This is just a small Easter, but without thinking it has made us realize that such a hidden minigame is already an icon of popular culture. If you’ve ever been unlucky enough to run out of Internet, you’ve probably played with the iconic T-Rex. And now, he will be immortalized in the history of The Simpsons.
