Oculus has registered the Crescent Bay trademark, the name of the latest prototype that the company has shown in public. Maybe it doesn’t mean anything for CV1, but we don’t remember that they’ve done anything similar before.
The news we found a moment ago on Reddit and points to Justia Trademarks, where we see that the registration was made in January and is related to goods related to virtual reality, video games, software, wearable devices, mobile phones, computer peripherals and the like. It does not seem that Oculus did the same with Crystal Cove, the previous prototype that led to the DK2, so we do not rule out that the name Crescent Bay is intended to be used for the commercial version, although all this is still pure speculation.
As a curiosity, when looking for more Crescent Bay brand registrations, we have come across various items such as frozen seafood (it makes sense given that Crescent Bay is a California beach), clothing, candles and cosmetics.
