Rift’s Cave started out as just another technological demo for the Oculus Rift, but its creators made the decision a long time ago to turn it into a full game. Today the official trailer arrives, along with the announcement that the public demo will be available this weekend, specifically on Sunday the 14th.
Rift’s Cave is a well-known demo from the time of DK1, and was recently updated for DK2. In it we could explore a gigantic cavern, and the demo that they will publish this Sunday already incorporates gameplay elements of what will be the final game:
-
- Complete avatar in 3D with its animations
-
- Implemented plot (the demo will have an end)
-
- More polished introductory map than in the current DK2 demo
-
- 1 new magic skill
-
- Improved lighting in the main menu
-
- Some extra surprises
For what will be the complete game, we will become a sorcerer’s apprentice and we will have to discover all the mysteries and solve various puzzles, in which we will have to use our wits and our skills to protect ourselves. It will be possible to collect objects, use magical abilities and explore and interact with the environment. Future plans include support for Razer Hydra/Sixense STEM, as well as a cooperative multiplayer mode.
If it seems attractive to us, we can vote it on Steam Greenlight and even pre-purchase it already from the game’s website for $20, with which we will have access to the alphas and betas of the complete game as soon as they are available. We can also take a look at the current alpha for DK2, which is sure to delight exploration lovers.
