Roskoshestvo made the top cameras| 24.07.2019
Roskoshestvo together with colleagues from the International Assembly of consumer organisations testing (ICRT International Consumer Research and Testing), conducted a study
cameras, evaluating the quality of the photos taken in automatic and manual modes, the video and audio quality, functionality and ease of use.
The study included 98 models, among which 55 models mirrorless machines with interchangeable lenses, 30 – SLR (professional, advanced Amateur) 10 – compact (regular,
advanced and with support for removable lenses) and 3 – bridge.
The test program included 326 indicators for the major six categories: image quality in automatic mode, image quality, manual mode, video quality, quality of monitor and
viewfinder, functionality and ease of use.
Mirrorless camera with interchangeable lens
According to test results among mirrorless cameras that support interchangeable lenses, the leaders were of the model:
-
Nikon Z6 Z with NIKKOR 24-70mm 1:4 S,
-
Nikon Z7 Z with NIKKOR 24-70mm 1:4 S,
-
Sony Alpha 7 II with SEL FE 28-70mm 1:3.5-5.6 OSS.
Interestingly, variation in the quality of the same brand can be really noticeable, such as Fujifilm’s X-X and T3-H1 are in the top ten the best mirrorless cameras, and
Fujifilm X-A3 closes rating cameras of this type. The last camera low points for the stabilizer, the video quality and speed. Thus between brands are not always there
significant differences.
It is also worth noting that representatives of all the studied brands (Canon, Fujifilm, Nikon, Panasonic and Sony) scored very high points for shooting outdoors in bright light, which, however,
not surprising, as this is the most basic daily function. Same story with portrait photography. However here the top camera is doing, according to experts, just perfect
portraits with the Fujifilm X-Pro2 with lens FUJINON SUPER EBC 35mm 1:1.4 R.
The best color in automatic modeshowed:
-
Fujifilm X-T3 with lens FUJINON SUPER EBC XF 50mm 1:2 R WR,
-
Sony Alpha 7 II with SEL FE 28-70mm 1:3.5-5.6 OSS
-
Canon EOS M100 with MOUNT ADAPTER EF-EOS M + EF 50mm 1:1.8 STM (by the way, the model of this camera – quite a budget).
But in manual mode the best color rendition at:
-
Fujifilm X-T30 with FUJINON ASPHERICAL lens SUPER EBC XF 18-55mm 1:2.8-4 R LM OIS,
-
Fujifilm X-T3 with FUJINON SUPER EBC XF 50mm 1:2 R WR
-
Fujifilm X-E3 with FUJINON SUPER EBC XF 56mm 1:1.2 R APD.
In turn, the best video was shot on:
-
Z7 with a Nikon MOUNT ADAPTER FTZ + AF-S NIKKOR 85mm 1:1.8 G and Z with NIKKOR 24-70mm 1:4 S,
-
Z Nikon NIKKOR 24-70mm 1:4 S
-
Panasonic LUMIX DC-G9.
SLR cameras or “SLR”
For the study SLR cameras took equipment Canon, Nikon and Pentax, but there is obvious lack of leadership. Model D3500 Nikon lens AF-S NIKKOR 50mm 1:1.8 G were able to take first
place in terms of shooting in manual mode and the second in automatic. The leader of top quality shooting in automatic mode has become a model 77D Canon EOS EF 50mm 1:1.8 STM.
Many summed up the appearance in images of distortion (distortion of lines and geometric objects) and in JPEG format and in RAW. Curiously, Pentax K-1 II with lens SMC FA 77mm 1:1.8 Limited,
proven worse than other cameras as shooting the street in bright light, problems with distortion just didn’t have and received this figure a perfect score.
Compact cameras or “point and shoot”
The best cameras are:
-
Fujifilm X100F
-
Panasonic LUMIX DC-LX100M2
-
Canon PowerShot G1X Mark III
Strengths Fujifilm and Canon was quality footage of the street in daylight, as well as image stabilization.
The best in photography of the street was the Sony Cyber-shot RX0, X100F Fujifilm and Canon PowerShot G1X Mark III and portrait photography – Fujifilm X-A5 with FUJINON SUPER EBC XF 50mm 1:2 R WR, Canon PowerShot G5X
and PowerShot G1X Mark III. Cameras Panasonic showed good results in the test of the dynamic range at high ISO.
Bridge (“bridge”) cameras
Best bridge (i.e. without a mirror and pentaprism) camera was the Sony Cyber-shot DSC-RX10 Mark 4. This model costs about hundred thousand roubles and can compete on quality
photos from cameras that support interchangeable lenses.
