Something will change here soon: Sony is already announcing the upcoming product reform on its Playstation Plus page.

The new Playstation Plus Extra also offers access to around 400 games for Playstation. The previous Playstation Plus subscription will be renamed Playstation Plus Essential. It still costs 9 euros a month and, according to the information, offers, among other things, two download games monthly and online multiplayer functionality for many games.

The new Playstation Plus Extra also offers access to around 400 games for Playstation (PS) 4 and 5, which can also be downloaded and are supposed to come from Sony itself as well as from third-party providers. Cost: 14 euros per month.

The most expensive subscription (17 euros per month) called Playstation Plus Premium is also an extension of the subscription below it in terms of price. In addition, there is streaming functionality (cloud gaming) and around 340 other titles. These include streaming games for the PS3 as well as games from a classic catalog for PS, PS2 and Playstation Portable (PSP), which can be downloaded or streamed.

The streaming of the games, i.e. their retrieval from Internet servers (cloud), should work as before with Playstation Now with PS4, PS5 or with PCs. In addition, there are trial versions in the premium subscription to try out games before making a purchase.

The following applies to all subscriptions: If you do not pay monthly, but quarterly or even annually, you will get a discount. The new Playstation Plus will be launched regionally in stages, starting with the Asian markets in June, followed by North America and Europe.

Sony did not initially announce when exactly the launch in Germany is planned, but named some titles whose availability in the medium and large subscription is planned for the market launch: “Death Stranding”, “God of War”, “Marvel’s Spider-Man”, “Marvel’s Spider-Man: Miles Morales”, “Mortal Kombat 11” and “Returnal”.
