Last week the unofficial content platform SideQuest it went on the market to seek financing and obtained the support of several investors worth 3 million euros, a considerably higher amount than last year, which was 650 thousand dollars. The largest contributions to this project have come from the European venture capital fund PROfounders, and also from others such as Ada Ventures, Connect Ventures, Ascension and SCNE.
It seems that the arrival of App Lab earlier this year has not made a dent in the confidence that investors and developers have in SideQuest, a platform born in 2019, just after the launch of the first Quest viewer. Since then he has published hundreds of games, demos or projects that did not meet the requirements of the official Oculus store.
The success of Quest 2 has led to more players, and therefore more people interested in the content hosted on SideQuest. Its creators, Shane and Orla Harris, have been able to adapt to the new circumstances and have not stopped improving the platform, which since April in addition to having a launcher for computers also has an application for Android phones.
