Slow transfer speed in Windows 7
If you have a problem with slow transfer speed in Windows 7 and surely also Vista, solution can be here. The symptoms that I experienced were that, when transferring data between my synology nasbox and my computer, things went incredibly slowly. Often it happened that it could not transfer 5 MB of data, or small pictures, etc. without windows stalling and I had to stop the program/transfer manually. As a quick fix, I just used the FTP server in the Synology box, but eventually I just had to find a solution.
Other symptoms may be that you lose your network connection periodically, your email program freezes, your browser runs slow. or VPN connection runs weird / slow.
1. Start writing “cmd“in the search box, then right-click “cmd.exe“and choose “Run as administrator”
2. Now comes the picture below, here you need to type below and press enter
netsh interface tcp set global autotuninglevel=disabled
3. Now all you have to do is make sure it’s writing “OK“and it should have been done. This solved my problem with slow transfer speed, but after all it is not safe it is the same error on your computer.
If you want to change it back to default, use the following command:
netsh interface tcp set global autotuninglevel=normal
To see if it is turned on or not, you can use this command:
netsh interface tcp show global
