A study organized by GamesIndustries.biz reveals a high interest in virtual reality. One in three respondents has shown interest in having an HMD, a figure that rises to 44% among gamers.
The survey was carried out on citizens aged between 11 and 64 living in the United Kingdom, France, Germany and Spain by IPSOS and GameTrack. The exact question is as follows:
The new ‘virtual reality’ technology will be available soon, and will allow you to experience more immersive entertainment at home. Using a special viewer connected to a device such as a computer or console, you will be able to move in three-dimensional spaces and see and hear as if you were there. This includes playing video games and interacting with other content such as movies or simulated environments. Assuming that the price is acceptable, how would you be interested in having this ‘virtual reality’ technology at home?
According to GamesIndustry.biz , more than 180 million responses have been received (we understand that this is a typo, perhaps 180,000 would be more credible) from people between the ages of 11 and 64, and the data indicate that a third of the respondents show some kind of interest, 44% among those who usually play video games. 9% say they are “very interested”, 24% “somewhat interested”, 21% “not too interested” and 39% have shown “no interest”. Of the four countries, Spain has obtained the highest percentage of interest with 43%, followed by France with 32%, the United Kingdom with 30% and Germany with 29%.
