If you take the Steam statistics as a basis for evaluation, the PC market VR in the spring of 2020 is stagnating. Valve Index and Oculus Quest can count on some growth, however, is less significant than might be expected.
Monthly review hardware and software logs all Valve’s virtual reality glasses, which were connected to a PC at least once during the month.
In September of 1.88% of all Steam users were connected to the points of VR, and in October — 1,76%. Spring level of 1.92 per cent, due to the release of Half-Life: Alyx and the beginning of self-isolation, has not been exceeded since.
The annual review 2019 Valve has announced that the number of active Steam users in a month has grown to almost 95 million. Based on this value, you can determine the approximate number of users VR in Steam: 1.76% of the Steam user base represents approximately 1.672.000 users SteamVR per month.
Only Christmas specials can now increase the number of users of PC VR, ironically mainly due to the self-sufficient points of virtual reality: released in October Oculus Quest 2 will probably become the best-selling VR. Buyers can use the device as glasses PC VR. HP Reverb G2, which will be released in November, most likely in the first place to inspire existing enthusiasts of virtual reality and is unlikely to lead to a significant increase in the number of PC users VR.

Valve Index recorded the biggest increase in October that the spring constant increases market share of one percent or more every month. Buyers still have to wait weeks for delivery, because Valve has not matched the growing demand. If this trend continues, the Index will soon overtake the HTC Vive will be on the second place among the most widely used VR glasses for PC on Steam.
Oculus Quest, also rose in October, though not as much as expected: successful launch of Quest 2 was to attract more players into the world of PC VR.
The relatively low growth Quest can mean that most of the buyers Quest 2 are not enthusiasts of VR or computer games. This, in turn, may be a sign that it is in the first place newcomers in virtual reality.
But it is also possible that Valve still does not rank Quest 2 statistics self-sufficient and that VR glasses will get its own place in the list next to the original Quest.
The PC VR market is waiting for new impulses
How often and intensively used virtual reality glasses, it is impossible to determine from the above statistics. This is evidenced by the following statistics, which represents the average maximum number of simultaneous users SteamVR.
After two highs in December 2019 (Christmas jump) and March 2020 (Half-Life: Alyx) this number then fell with the monthly fluctuations up and down. A significant increase, if it does happen, will not happen before Christmas.
Assuming that in June it was 95 million active users of Steam, you can calculate the approximate number of connected VR points, as shown in the following diagram. Figures are rounded to the nearest thousand.
