This is the first time that the manufacturer has made a commercial for YouTube, because in general its philosophy has focused more on word-of-mouth advertising than explicit advertising. Initially, Tesla started with text ads on Google. After months of using this format, the company has moved towards video ads, but just this week its adventure on YouTube began. The announcement highlights the safety of Tesla vehicles, highlighting the amount of data available thanks to their connectivity that allows them to “design the safest cars on the streets.” The video concludes with an invitation for people to book a test drive.

This foray into traditional advertising represents a shift for Tesla, which has relied heavily on word of mouth and social media. For years, Elon Musk sought only to work on the characteristics of his cars, but in recent months he has initiated an aggressive campaign to sell more, which began with strong sales. The foray into YouTube seems to be simply the natural next step.
