Dave Ranyard, former head of Sony London Studios, founds a new company dedicated to the creation of virtual reality games, just a year after he left his position at London Studios.
Dream Reality Interactive is a new independent studio dedicated exclusively to the creation of video games and experiences for virtual reality, founded by Dave Ranyard, former head of Sony London Studios. Alongside Ranyard are his former teammates Richard Bates, Artemis Tsoubidou, Albert Bentall and John Foster, who were the entire team in charge of the development of the PlayStation VR Worlds title from PSVR. The studio has the experience of having created games such as Singstar, Wonderbook: Book of Spells, and VR Worlds in virtual reality. His love for social gaming, virtual and augmented reality are the pillars of this new company.
“With the availability of a range of VR headsets, the question is no longer whether virtual reality will succeed, it’s when and more importantly how. None of us really know the answer, but after spending 17 fantastic years at Sony, we feel now is the right time to explore the possibilities. Becoming independent allows us to work with all platforms and that is very liberating,” said Ranyard. Dream Reality Interactive is already working on several projects and prototypes, creating its own IP in addition to developing other titles in partnership with other owners of other IPs, and for a variety of virtual reality devices.
