There is still a long way to go to that reality in which machines are able to unseat humans as creators of art. But the truth is that, every day, we are a little closer.
With Beatles influences, a retro touch, maybe some 20s influences and, why not, a little Broadway. With these premises, and many more, the Computer Science Laboratory of Sony in Paris has created the definitive machine, the one capable of composing original songs by itself.
The lyrics of the song, which for the moment has depended on the imagination of a human being, has been the basis for the first musical composition made by artificial intelligence. This machine, created solely for this purpose, works using a software tool called Flow Machines. His learning has come from the study of a database of thousands of songs, 13,000 specifically, of all styles, in which jazz and pop were the most numerous. Self-taught, this machine has been able to create the basis of his first single: Daddys Car.
For their first success, the songwriting has been based primarily on the Beatles ‘ hits. Along with this, another song has also been released, The Ballad of Mr. Shadow, inspired by American musicians such as Irving Berlin, Duke Ellington, George Gershwin or Cole Porter.
And although the singles have already been released, the best is yet to come. Sony plans to release the first artificial intelligence music album in 2107. At the moment with human help for the theme of the lyrics, production and final mix of the song, but everything is to come.
