A download that includes three CAD files to facilitate the construction of accessories for the Oculus Touch motion controllers.
Oculus it has published the “Touch Accessory Guidelines 1.0”, a download that includes 3D CAD files of the motion controllers in order to help designers and manufacturers to create new accessories compatible with Oculus Touch. The file includes a PDF with technical drawings of the battery compartment and the adapter for Rockband VR that comes standard with the purchase of the motion controllers. In turn, we also find three CAD STEP files, which we can preview thanks to the links that RoadToVR has published, corresponding to the outer surface of Touch, the battery compartment and the adapter to place Touch on other peripherals such as the Rockband guitar.
Since the launch of Rift, Oculus has also provided the CAD files of the viewer with the publication of the “Rift Accessories Guidelines” that make it easier for other manufacturers to create their audio accessories or facial interfaces such as those developed by VR Cover. The problem with using Touch as a positioning device on other objects is that the new peripherals need an alternative to communicate with the PC in case they have new buttons or functions, unless they manage to use the Touch charging USB to make such communication.
