in 2022, the Tribeca Film Festival will once again offer a film program specifically for VR and AR. You can experience the works on site and online.
in 2020, the Tribeca Film Festival had to be suspended due to the pandemic, which is why the organizers transferred a selection of their immersive festival program to Oculus TV for free. Back in June 2021, the New York event returned to a physical event that 2022 in hybrid form place.
Meanwhile, the event is simply called Tribeca Festival and will take place from June 8 to 19, 2022. The VR and AR program “Tribeca Immersive” will be available from June 10 to 19 at New York’s Spring Studios as well as other locations. In the meantime, the participating virtual reality and augmented reality projects have been revealed in the categories “Main Competition”, “New Voices” and “Best of Season”.
Tribeca Immersive Showcase about man, nature, society
For the first time, the selection was narrowed down thematically. It revolves around the Relationship of human beings with nature and society. The topic is explored with the help of digital art and advanced technology. The individual stories should relate to each other in order to take viewers on an impressive interactive journey.
The main prize is aimed at those artists who “bridge the gap between technology and narrative”. The new award for “New Voices” is intended for creatives of a first or second work: their contribution should additionally enrich the immersive narrative with new perspectives and their own artistic way of expression.
