New generation API is the first major upgrade in 8 years. The V2 API includes new products and levels of access for developers.
The launch was delayed for a month for hacking the accounts of many public figures.
Twitter said that there is no evidence that the attack was related API, and the V2 launch is postponed for safety of the platform.
The API is divided into three levels — standard, with free Internet access, Academic Research and Business.
The first to be launched the level Standart.
At this level the developers will be able to stream tweets in real time or to study past texts on Twitter. These functions were previously only available to corporate developers
level.
In the coming months, Twitter plans to publish guidance for future API.
